Tucked away behind Broadway shopping centre in Glebe, this might seem an unlikely place to find an independent craft brewery, but indeed you will. Staves Brewery is one of the best new additions to the suburb, bringing the fine art of craft beer in a chilled out and enjoyable atmosphere.
This little brew-pub boasts a solid range of house brewed beer and a few local craft favorites as well. And with a couple of taps held aside for changing moods and experimental brews, you can be sure to enjoy something a little different each time you visit. Beer connoisseurs can enjoy the best of the craft, but there is something for everyone here and there is none of the pretentious attitude that you so often find in brew-pubs these days.
With a discrete exterior you could be forgiven for missing this place entirely, but if you make your way inside you will find a simple, rustic pub still with many of the features left behind from the building’s old steel workshop days. Upstairs you will find comedy acts periodically, and the courtyard is a little haven of greenery reminiscent of your mates backyard. And if that wasn’t enough for you, then come along for live music on Friday night. Chalk board menus detail the brews on offer and the simplicity of the place speaks to its priorities. Nothing fancy here, just good people and great beer.
