Monet and Friends – Life, Light & Colour is not an art exhibition in the traditional sense. It is an immersive multimedia art experience combining high-definition projections of Monet’s, and his impressionist peers’, paintings with digital surround sound.

Imagery and animations are projected at a scale that offers visitors the ability to see the details of the artist’s work like never before. More than 3,000 images transform each surface. However, there is no physical work by Claude Monet or other artists on display.

The Impressionists’ works have been displayed and enjoyed around the world for almost two-hundred years – but never like this.

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of 19th century Europe through the eyes of Claude Monet and the Impressionist Masters. Monet & Friends – Life, Light & Colour is a multi-sensory experience to entertain the whole family.

Breathtaking paintings are projected on an enormous scale, illuminating the bold brushstrokes of Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas and many more. In a rich, dynamic display of light, colour, sound and fragrance, the masterpieces of the Impressionists come to life.

The Experience

Monet & Friends – Life, Light & Colour pays homage to Claude Monet and the Impressionist masters of the mid-19th century right through to the early 20th century, exploring not only the paintings themselves but the history of the Impressionist movement amid the social and political turbulence of the time. It takes visitors back to when the face of European art was set to change forever. In a rich, dynamic display of light, colour and sound, the masterpieces of the Impressionists come to life. Breathtaking paintings are projected on an enormous scale, illuminating the bold brushstrokes of Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas and many more.

The Impressionists’ depictions of modernity and movement, light and shadow have been admired and emulated by generations of artists. Now, two centuries later, SENSORY4™ immersive technology brings their work to life through an incredible application of light that even the artists themselves could not have envisaged.

The experience takes visitors on a journey that examines the world of Impressionism across three main movements: ‘Metropolitan’, ‘A Day in the Life’ and ‘En Plein Air’.

Interspersed throughout the immersive display, between the main movements, the entire gallery transforms into states of colour, celebrating the painting of the late 19th century through the spectrum of colour.
