Darling Harbour. Just moments from the Sydney CBD, and with a brilliant view of the Sydney skyline, Harbourside at Darling Harbour offers shopping, food and fireworks. There is onsite parking for a relatively good price, but you can walk here from the city centre, or easily get the bus, train or light rail so leave the car behind and enjoy the day here hassle free.
If you need souvenirs, then this is a great place to look, with lots of stores dedicated to this and all things Australiana. Koalas, kangaroos, alpacas and boomerangs – if it’s Australian, you’ll find it here. Of course, there is more to Harbourside than souvenirs. Fashion, accessories, surf shops, kids clothes, street fashion, denim, shoes, accessories and jewellery all have a place here too. There are no high end luxury stores, but if affordable fashion is on your agenda then you’re in luck.
If it’s entertainment for kids you’re after, then this is also a great place to come. With a constant stream of events and endless activities on offer there is never a dull moment. Lasertag, ten pin bowling, car simulation race centre, virtual reality flying lessons and even a 9D action cinema – truly there are hours upon hours of entertainment here. And when you’re done, tired and hungry, this is where Harbourisde really comes into it’s element – the food. Fine dining, fast food, grab ‘n’ go, ice cream and everything in between – whatever your tastebuds are after, you will find it here.
Fireworks. Did I mention fireworks? Every Saturday night at 9pm, fireworks here light up the sky and with the Sydney skyline as a backdrop, it is truly spectacular. An afternoon of shopping and play, dinner and then fireworks over the harbour – what more could you ask for?!
