Coogee Beach

Beaches

Just a few kilometers south of Sydney's most famous Bondi beach, is Coogee beach. You can walk here from Bondi along the famous Bondi-Coogee coastal track, and if you have time I definitely recommend you do this. The views are stunning and you will also pass through a handful of other beautiful beaches on your way so you can cool down as you go. The track is about 8 kilometers and takes you along the cliff tops and down past the beaches in between. The buses are also well set up to get you in and out of both Bondi and Coogee, so you can bus into Bondi, walk along the coastal track until you arrive at Coogee and bus home from there.

Once you're here, there are no shortage of options to pass a great day. The beach is large, so you will be sure to find a patch of sand for your own, and there is a grassy section too with BBQ facilities, toilets, showers, change rooms, lockers and of course lots of food options. Kiosks offer cheap and cheerful takeaway food, with fish and chips definitely being a local favourite. What better place to eat fish and chips than on the sand here listening to the waves' Just watch out for seagulls here ' they love fish and chips too and won't hesitate to steal some right out of your hands if you're not careful! Being a relaxed beachside suburb, there are also loads of cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars where you can find refreshment with a view or some respite from the sun if you need it.

The water here is great to cool off in too, although it can get rough and there are often rips around too, so it is definitely important to swim between the flags here. Also a popular spot for surfers, but with smaller breaks this is a good spot to grab a board or take some lessons here if you want to improve your skills. There is also an ocean pool towards the south end of the beach, so if you want to do a few laps to earn yourself a few drinks later, this is the place to do it. Once you've had enough of the sun, head into the Coogee Pavillion for a woodfired pizza and enjoy a sunset drink or two on the rooftop terrace..there might be no better way to spend a day in Sydney.
