Beaches

Just north of Long Reef Beach, Collaroy is a wonderfully quiet beach that is also somewhat protected making the swell perfect for all ages. There is a carpark here, so getting here by car is easy, but there is also a bus stop within easy walking distance so this is a good option too if you're coming from Sydney city.

The Collaroy shoreline is protected from some of the weather coming from the south, so the waves are smaller here than some of the neighbouring beaches. This makes it a great spot for beginners to learn to surf, although there can be times when the weather conditions can making surfing here a challenge even for those that are more experienced. With smaller swells, this is also a great beach for swimming even for young children, and with an ocean pool as well this beach is popular with young families.

BBQs and a nice picnic area add to the appeal of this beach. And of course there are toilets and showers too. There is also a playground near the picnic area which offers some shade so you can take a break from the sun if you need it. The strip along Pittwater road also has plenty to offer, with surf shops, cafes and restaurants.

Just a short stroll up the beach towards the north is Narrabeen beach. This is a lovely beach in it's own right and offers a lovely diversion for those who enjoy a walk. And the sunsets are really beautiful here, with the colours of the sky reflecting off the lake if the wind is still, so if you can hang around for that you won't regret it.
