If you like a picnic, then Bronte beach might be the perfect beach for you. This beautiful beach has a lovely sense of openness, with an expansive sandy beach, and tons of grassy parkland behind. There is a playground for the kids and plenty of room for everyone to find a spot to enjoy the day. Parking can be tricky at peak times, but there are buses from Bondi Junction, or you can walk from Bondi beach in about half an hour along the Bondi-Coogee coastal track which is beautiful and worth doing if you have time.

Once you get here, you have access to a number of BBQs and loads of space to picnic, be it at the designated picnic tables or on the grass in the dappled sunshine. There are gazebos if you need shade, and of course toilets and showers too. Another reason Bronte beach is favourite for families, is the natural rock pool at the south end of the beach. The rocks here create a natural barrier to the waves, creating a shallow wading pool which is great for kids. There is also an adult-sized ocean-fed pool which is great for laps or to cool off when the swell is too big to venture into the sea. It is worth noting that the swell here can get dangerous at times. The waves can be great for surfing but are best tackled only by experienced surfers. And swimmers should definitely swim between the flags and heed the warnings of the lifeguards.

If you need a break from the beach or if you didn't bring a picnic with you, then don't worry..the bustling cafe strip has you covered. There are lots of options here from traditional beach takeaway options like burgers or fish and chips, as well as some lovely cafes where you can find delicious fruit smoothies, focaccias and more. And of course there is no shortage of options when it comes to dicecream, so Bronte beach really has all your needs covered.
