Widely regarded as one of the best steakhouses in the whole of Sydney, The Meat & Wine Company prides itself on plating up world class steaks.

African inspired, yet with a nod to their Australian locality, they have a couple of venues in the city, including at Macquarie Street in the CBD and Parramatta, which are great to eat at. But it's their Barangaroo restaurant that you should really try and get to.

Set within the iconic International Tower One, this ground level venue showcases exceptional views of the Sydney Harbour, which makes for a perfect date night, business lunch or family meal.

Bistro Rex

Anyone who has ever had a steak in France should head on over to Bistro Rex in Potts Point.

A delightful Parisian-inspired bistro known for its fantastic service and European design, it offers up a superb menu of French inspired meals, of which the steaks are one of the main highlights.

Given their exquisite quality, portion size and beautiful presentation, they actually represent very good value.

The wine list is also terrific here too and if you have a sweet tooth the passion fruit souffle and the affogato with liqueur is the perfect way to finish off your meal.


Nobody cooks a steak quite like the Italians, and at Bistecca they pay homage to this fact through their delicious offerings.

Located in the Sydney CBD, in a gorgeous heritage building which you will find just off Bridge Street, this Tuscan inspired eatery is the most impressive of venues.

The signature Bistecca alla Fiorentina is the dish to have here. Cut and weighed, it is presented to diners in a similar way to which wine is ' prior to being cooked fireside to the most exceptional level of medium-rare over charcoal.

Once cooked, it is rested before being served in the quintessential Italian way, with olive oil and lots of salt and pepper seasoning. Classic yet magnificent.


If it's a good old Aussie style steak you are after, then Kingsleys in Woolloomooloo is the go.

Enjoying a fantastic harbourside location on the finger wharf, the setting here is typically Sydney. Relaxed, yet casually sophisticated, it serves as a lovely venue in which to eat.

Steak lovers are spoilt for choice with around 11 options usually on the menu. These include everything from the 250g grain chuck tail to a MBS2+ which weighs a monster 1.2kg!

For those who aren't such big fans of steak they also do a fabulous range of seafood here.

The Gidley

Located in the CBD, The Gidley is not so much of a steakhouse, but an experience.

One of the only establishments in the city to offer up spinalis steak, this is a fine dining restaurant which seemingly encourages a rather refined form of over-indulgence.

Found on the corner of Elizabeth Street and King Street, this strictly over 18s venue serves some of the best prime cuts you can get in the city. From an on the bone rib eye which has been chargrilled perfectly over iron bark, to a delectable 300 gram Riverine Black Angus, this is not a place where you will go hungry.
