Best Seafood Restuarants in Sydney

Sydney is surrounded by water, so its no wonder that some of the best seafood restaurants in the country reside in and around the city.

To my mind there are few better dining experiences than a seafood meal with a view, especially as the sun is setting. From elevated harbour side decks to restaurants in the CBD, that look out to the skyline, there are plenty of fantastic options available in the city. Each of which offers something unique, innovative and exciting.

Outlined below is a selection of some of my favourite seafood restaurnts in Sydney. Hopefully it will enable to you find a good feed!

Harbourfront Seafood Restaurant

Right down by Circular Quay, the Harbourfront Seafood Restaurant only opened fairly recently, but it is already proving to be quite a hit!

You will find it in the old Campbell's Stores building, next to the Park Hyatt Sydney hotel. Which offers sensational views of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

A very upscale restaurant, the thing to order here is one of their premium seafood platters. Piled high with the likes of Balmain bugs with remoulade, Appellation Sydney Rock Oysters, Humpty Doo barramundi, Abrolhos octopus carpaccio with salsa verde and cured scallops, it showcases some of the best seafood produce in Australia.

Jonah's

The granddaddy of all seafood restaurants in Sydney, Jonah's has been operating for over 90 years.

Boasting a rock solid reputation for excellence, and a celebrity clientele that includes the likes of Joan Collins and Justin Bieber, this Palm Beach institution takes the form of a seafood restaurant and exclusive boutique hotel.

The views of Whale Beach from the restaurant are breathtaking and this is a place you will definitely want to linger.

Head chef Matteo Zamboni has crafted a delectable range of French influenced seafood dishes, which include the likes of grilled prawns with bisque b'chamel, squid ink crab linguine and whole lobster thermidore for two.

Bondi Icebergs

The Bondi Icebergs Club has been around since 1929. It might be best known for its iconic swimming pool, but it should also be recognized for the excellence of the seafood it offers.

Served within a refined Italian style bistro that offers fabulous views of the pool, beach and ocean, the menu does have its fair share of meat dishes. But it's the seafood platter of prawns, oysters, sashimi, mussels, calamari, bugs and battered flathead, that really steals the show.

I love the Bondi Icebergs for its great setting, food and excellent service and over the years have enjoyed many a lovely seafood meal here.

Saint Peter

Saint Peter has been a major player on the Sydney seafood scene for many years now.

Situated on Oxford Street, this Paddington restaurant is run by the highly talented Josh Niland. It exclusively serves seafood, and it does so in a very innovative way.

The menu changes periodically, but it has included the likes of a yellowfin tuna cheeseburger, Moonfish guanciale, kingfish liver p't' and albacore tuna 'nduja on toast.

If you love seafood, you will be in for a real treat at this place. Its always busy, but the service and atmosphere are great. While the food is divine.

Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club

The Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club has been delighting the locals of Manly for many years, with one of the best seafood platters in the whole of New South Wales.

Featuring a chilled seafood platter that consists of grilled lemon myrtle prawns, chilled king prawns, oysters, grilled baby octopus, beer battered fish, salt & pepper calamari, Alaskan king crab legs, green shelled mussels, it is a feast fit for royalty!

Served up on the outdoor deck of a delightful bistro setting, which offers fabulous views of the water, this is one of my favourite places to spend a relaxed afternoon with the family.
