Tucked beneath the sails of Sydney’s iconic Opera House is Peter Gilmore’s Bennelong restaurant. With perhaps the most spectacular view of any restaurant in Sydney, you will be dining with a view across the sparkling harbour and of course the famous Harbour Bridge. Once a stiff and formal affair, the newly refurbished Bennelong is chic and elegant. And with some less formal menus now on offer, this little gem is most definitely worth a second look.

As in all of Gilmore’s endeavours, quality produce is the number one focus. With everything sourced from the best local growers, the meals are really able to showcase the very best Australian ingredients. In every case, flavours are paired with elegance and the presentation impeccable. The humble Australian yabby is transformed into a delicate masterpiece with lemon jam, cultured cream and buckwheat pikelets. Classics such as spanner crab and scallops are reinvented with flair, and the Wagyu beef is a spectacular example of this Australian favourite.

The introduction of the Cured and Cultured menu, brings a casual element and some more moderate prices to this fine dining space. But don’t let this fool you – the food is no less impressive. Whether you choose from the more formal a la carte restaurant menu or enjoy your meal at the bar with a view of the chefs working their magic in the kitchen, you can expect perfection here every time. And with a cocktail menu as creative as the food, and desserts to die for your tastebuds are sure to be delighted.
